Public Windows 8 Beta may be released in February 2012

Looking forward to it. It will be interesting to find out what features have been removed, what have been added, and what have been enabled that were previously disabled.

February is as good as any. We are in no hurry - are we? But they should be in a hurry to capture the Christmas season 2012 with a good collection of mobile devices. For the PC there is no rush. Win7 does just fine. Win8 will only alienate those XP huggers even more.

What for Mike.
I dunno, Wolfgang, I just like to try new stuff as quicly as I can. That's why I installed Win8 way back before even the 7989 came out.
That's why I installed the DP as soon as it became available.
That's why I run Fx alpha builds and pretty much Beta on all of my programs except AutoCad and MS Office (I really need 'em for work).
Also, I like to play and get a jump on helping others. I like making the mistakes and foibles as I go and provide feedback thereof.

@Aaron: It makes a difference to me. Just because it doesn't to you is no reason to belittle my desire to get the Win8 Beta as soon as I possibly can, OK?

So if I understand you right Mike, you are just very curious to try new things. I guess that is as good a reason as any. I am probably too old for that. I have seen it all in 55 years playing with computers.

I understand, Wolfgang, but you haven't seen it all, yet.

I've been playing, and working, on computers since the mid-80's and I always get excited about what's new and want to learn it well enough to help others enjoy the new stuff as much as I do.

I think it keeps me young as these whippersnappers, who are much younger than you or I, get a head start iff'n we don't keep up. :D

With the Win 7 Betas I got every one I could beg, borrow, or "steal", Win 8 doesn't hold the same interest for me...YET.
I installed the WDP, uninstalled it, re-installed it, and finally decided to leave it uninstalled. Once the public beta comes out I expect my interest will peak again.

I have to admit, there was a certain "fun factor" when installing a Win 7 beta version that had been leaked half way around the world. The forbidden fruit always tastes best...

Learning something before my grand kids do is a big beta plus.

I understand what Mike is trying to say and I'm also very curious about what we'll see in the beta... a preview is just a preview, and maybe the beta is something completely diferent...
