Personally I don't like the way Skydrive works under 8.1, much prefer the "desktop" version which offers more options.
Yea, the RT user interface (Metro/Modern/whatever it is) for 8.x is optional, in case you might not realize it. It's tuned (dumbed down) specifically for touch screens--lots of wasted space on each screen, dumbed-down & truncated options, too-large fonts, etc. If you have a non-touch computer like most people do, you never have to look at the new UI unless you want to--8.x contains the entire Win7-'ish (Explorer-based) user interface, thank goodness (although Microsoft seems to go to lengths to hide it for some reason.) Just grab a 3rd-party start menu from somewhere (Classic Shell 3.9.5 is excellent & free) and take it from there.
    Sorry you lost me
Well, that was easy... No, seriously, that was not my intention--to lose you. I was agreeing with you and then commenting on my impressions of the Metro/Modern UI--wasted space, dumbed-down options--like you observed you didn't like with Skydrive, etc.
