Steve Ballmer: Windows 8.1 Is Proof That We Listened...

Microsoft will soon debut the new Windows 8.1 OS update and company CEO Steve Ballmer hasn’t missed the occasion to praise it during the Worldwide Partner Conference 2013 in Houston.

Ballmer emphasizes that Windows 8.1 is proof that Microsoft is trying to get much closer to its users, so the return of the Start button plus the rest of improvements included in the first Windows 8 overhaul are nothing more than a living proof that the company is now listening to consumers.

Ballmer's still running around rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Get over it mate, it's going under ... and hopefully you with it! :redcarded:

Much needed improvements in 8.1. Aside from the redundently irrelevant start button..

The app list available with just a swipe and the greater flexibility of app sizing and window sizing goes to further make the os complete.

Great job MS!

Funny, had a meeting today with our Microsoft licensing rep and he asked if we had taken a look at 8.1 yet. He actually called it a "service pack" for Windows 8 and acknowledged that they indeed were listening to customers and made some changes to Windows 8. He said, "we acknowledge that it wasn't really a good release for desktop business users, as it was geared too much for the tablet interface". I nearly fell out of my chair. He was actually a bit surprised when I said we had about 8 Windows 8 computers in our organization...he said most organizations weren't using it at all.

But yet...Ballmer says things are going just like they hoped. Hmmmmmm.......

:thumb: Yep, man the life boats, the Titanic's going under!

Amazing how the reps at ground level know the real scene. Pity they couldn't get it at the top level.

Is this guy serious? This new "start button" is proof that they DON'T listen. Instead they're flipping the middle finger at their customers and spitting in their faces.

I liken him more to a company man who is ready and willing to go down with the ship.

One simple alteration could reverse this trend, but this fool and his company refuse to do it.

The only thing saving Windows 8 as I see it, would be complete removal of the Metro interface. And that will never gonna happen. Plain Start menu ain't gonna save it.
