According to MS they didn't consider ME a 'version', so is not on their list of OSs.

I didn't have any problems with ME, was good actually.
Like Joan said it was a stepping stone to XP.
Some rumors say Win8 will be a improvement on Win7, so hopefully, we won't see the problems incurred from ME to XP and Vista to Win7.

Very true! 98SE was for "Second Edition", and ME was "Millennium Edition". Why MS chose "Edition" over "Version" ... who knows. But evidently they did not view either SE or ME as new versions of OS to be counted on the "Official" list?

I just want my 3.1 back.
Damn, I still have the "Windows 95" upgrade disk somewhere around here too.

I never got the SE version of 98, mine was the original one, I then went to WinME so I never knew what improvements were incorporated into SE.
