I read somewhere that they were going to switch to Roman numbers. Windows 9 will be IX and 10 will be OS X.

When Win 8 was released MS said they were moving to a yearly update instead of Service Packs.

IMHO I think it all depends on what type of device you're using it on. For me its a PITA on a desktop with a keyboard and mouse, I run 7 on that. I'm actually not minding it so much on my laptop with a touchpad that supports gestures. I think it would actually be not to shabby on a tablet. If you hate Metro there isn't much in 8.1 for you except the boot to desktop option. The rest is mostly eye candy. I like what they added and changed, it could still be a lot better though.
