Windows 8: New "Protogon" filesystem could be the next big thing

Just managed to dig this up. Very interesting.

We wish we knew exactly what's in store here, but we've found some exciting tidbits in Windows 8 that indicate that Microsoft's top-secret new filesystem -- Protogon -- is finally coming to fruition as part of Windows 8.

I'm going to attempt to reformat a drive now just for the sake of it

Some people are saying that protogon partitions are faster and allow more space usage than NTFS.

    Can anyone confirm that ?

I've tried this, and I can confirm that it works. Pics to come later. You need to use an elevated command prompt and the /q switch, as shown in the referenced link, doesn't work. The command does work if you omit this switch.

Omitting the /q switch makes the format go through but the resulting drive is unusable. One gets all kinds of errors like unusable drive, would you like to format the drive, filesystem not recognized etc.

However, I think getting hold of a few files from the 7955 build should do the trick, lemme see...
