But on a related note, I am so GLAD they did that ipad advert, oh my GOD. That is EXACTLY how I would had marketed Windows 8 FROM THE VERY START!
Hi there
Rubbishing a competitor's product is BAD business anyway -- first you have ACKNOWLEGED that there is actually a product out there that competes with yours and secondly if the product is so bad you've implied that the potential customers of yours are stupid because they haven't realized that the competing product is rubbish anyway.
The sales / marketing teams really need to go back to school and take the basic 101 courses before putting out their puerile junk.
Cheers

That kind of ads is a declaration of insecurity. Knowing that something is doing well and ride the bandwagon by imitating it. So at the end, MS come out as a copycat.
Why do MS have to attach their name with another popular name?

THAT was a great, memorable and historical commercial. Did they bash Microsoft within it? Didn't know they existed back then... I never used MS-dos, I used PC-Dos. Heh. I thought they were merely making a side-ad for the moovie "1984"

Microsoft is taking a huge chance doing this - Because iPad's have been a proved tech for years, people will buy them without even looking at competitor products, they simply want an Apple product.
If the Windows 8 Tablet WERE as useful as I have seen iPads to be, I would applaud this - But so far, Microsoft has not proved this to me. If I saw a Tablet with Windows 7 on it, altered to work well with the touchscreen, I would consider it - If it had goods battery life - iPads have been seen to stay on for ovcer 9 hours, but the typical laptop only 3 at most. Macbook Pros last well over 4 hours, using MACOS, less than 45 minutes using Windows 7. Windows 8 on a Macbook Pro ought to be kick-arse. I;d like to do a Bootcamp using Windows 8 on a Macbook Pro.
I've never stated it here, but the best Windows machine I have ever seen was a Macbook Pro I usually maintain. Windows 7 works the best on that of any machine I have ever used. I'd love to get Windows 8 on one. If I could afford a macbook pro, I'd use it mroe than my desktops.
You have to understand context here. Back a few years ago in a college class, I think it was a marketing elective class I took, where we had to make an advertisement of a real product. What I obviously did at the time because Windows 7 came, was the mac vs. PC type thing. Drew it up overnight, and the result is actually quite similar to Microsoft's advert. Except it doesn't involve communists...But on a related note, I am so GLAD they did that ipad advert, oh my GOD. That is EXACTLY how I would had marketed Windows 8 FROM THE VERY START!
Easy there cowboy. This is nothing to get a woody over.
I'm surprised they aren't using a Surface RT tablet for the comparison...
October for apple basically will be the release of a terrible knockoff of a Windows Phone in the form of ios 7. Latest report claims the UI will be black, white, and flat. apple's not going to release anything innovative because "they're the best."
