Microsoft updates six of its own Windows 8 apps

Microsoft is pushing out updates to six of the Windows 8/Windows RT applications built by the Bing AppEx team, company officials announced on April 15.

Five of these app updates -- Finance, News, Maps, Sports and Travel -- are available today in the Windows Store. The Weather app updates will be "shipping over the course of the coming weeks," according to company officials.

Hi there
as a regular traveller the travel app is a JOKE for a desktop PC -- the finance one is also JUNK.
These types of apps on a DESKTOP just DON'T work.

I trade the markets regularly and if I have to use an ENTIRE (or even half) a screen for watching Ms's Finance app then I can't view a lot of other stuff at the same time -- anybody "doing the markets" would know you often have to keep your eye on several screens or charts etc at the same time. before placing your order for your trades.

When will some people get it through their THICK NOZZLES or PEA sized brains that a lot of applications NEED TO BE VIEWED CONCURRENTLY preferably in re-sizeable windows -- this is Nothing to do with a Start button or the appearance of the start screen but simply on how some people USE a COMPUTER - which is different to a mobile phone or a tablet.

Also if I'm looking at travel destinations or trying to buy a plane or even a train ticket then I want to be able to COMPARE prices and locations and this is NOT done conveniently if I can't see a lot of this stuff AT THE SAME TIME ON THE SCREEN(S).

On a phone OK you are used to looking at a single window -- the screens are too small -- but even using a phone is not a convenient tool for comparing websites etc unless there is only a choice say between two sites.

If I were in Ms -- I'd ORDER the UI developers ONLY TO USE METRO for booking their travel and hotels -- They'd then get the point pretty quickly I'm sure.

Cheers
