Metro-style Internet Explorer 10 ditches Flash, plugins

Windows 8 will have two versions of Internet Explorer 10: a conventional browser that lives on the legacy desktop, and a new Metro-style, touch-friendly browser that lives in the Metro world. The second of these, the Metro browser, will not support any plugins. Whether Flash, Silverlight, or some custom business app, sites that need plugins will only be accessible in the non-touch, desktop-based browser.

FFS Microsoft should stop trying to be Apple, if Apple were good enough to be copied then they would have more the the 5% market share they currently hold :sarc:

Yeah, I don't know what the hell is up with this idea.

At least give us the option to full on disable plugins in it or not, not force none at all. Now I have to use the Youtube HTML5 beta to just watch youtube vids in chrome-less IE10? Come on...half work, half of them don't.

Let's just hope all youtube vids and others are HTML5 or have compliant players by the time Win8 and IE10 are completed.
Yeah, right....

Calm down, Windows 8 DOES support Flash

Summary: Don’t panic! Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 will still allow you to use all your favorite plug-ins, including Flash.

Does Windows 8 support Flash? Yes, yes it does, so don’t believe the trolling headlines.

The traditional version of IE 10 does support flash, but not the Metro Style one. Non of the plugins are supported by Metro IE 10, which is sad cuz I like the style and how it actually works. I wish I could use it for all purposes.

I wish the Metro Style IE 10 did support plugins so I am able to watch youtube videos in it. I also like the Metro IE 10 and I like it a whole lot. It looks good. I am hoping they have plugins supported when beta comes out or there is going to be a lot of angry people.

If they manage to integrate flash and all other useful plugins in their new style IE 10, i will gladly switch to win8 when it comes out, but if not, i don't think i would wona switch from one browser to another all the time when i just wona brouse or another time watch video.

It takes 0.003secs to switch between the metro IE10 and the traditional IE10 for me, most of us already using different browsers for different needs. I may be among the minority but still I would say that W8 is a very comfortable OS.

Even after enrolling in the HTML5 trial, youtube videos wouldn't play in the immersive browser. Anyhoo I've bid goodbye to metro for the time being.

Well, some of them play in it. Depends on the video I guess.

Metro is going to be optional on install. It would be crazy to think otherwise. The big thing about win8 is that it combines touch, and traditional desktop/laptop functionality into one OS.
