Deep inside Windows Blue: 10 coolest features

After an abundance of rumors, whispers, and slip-ups in job postings, we now have more concrete evidence of Microsoft's secretive Windows Blue operating system: An honest-to-goodness leak of an early build of the OS.

The leak of "Windows Build 9364" appeared on torrent and file sharing sites Sunday morning in the form of a 2.6GB ISO file, and news of the leak blazed across the Net like wildfire after an initial appearance on Windows 9 Beta. Although Microsoft hasn't issued a formal statement about the leak, it's been dissected hands-on by WinSuperSite and numerous forum-goers, and Build 9364 appears to a 100 percent legitimate (and 100 percent unauthorized) look at the future of Windows.

Will it be enough to woo curmudgeonly Windows 7 enthusiasts to Microsoft's platform of the future? Probably not.

No idea who he is talking about.

I don't know any curmudgeonly win 7 users.

They are a very content bunch on the whole. Cheap shot from the author ? No, he was just using it as a figure of speech , intended to be mildly amusing.

I'm sure there's probably more added features, but I like what I see so far.

I know some people want Microsoft to cave into pressure and put things back the way they were (like back to 2009), but I'm glad they're sticking to their vision and daring to be different and bold. Given the timid, almost cowardly way some companies approach OS updates ( I'm looking at you Apple), I love the idea that Microsoft are sticking to their guns.

They can because there is no competition.

They can shove out almost anything they think will be good for them.

Hi there
as I've posted in some other threads -- Installed on a VM and Working fine. I've installed Office 2010 -- updates fine and Photoshop CS2 (I installed CS2 on it because CS2 is currently available FREE and I don't want to move my current (expensive) CS6 to it. Cs2 can handle 90% of what I need to do in photo shop anyway.

No serial number needed, it's W8 PRO expires Jan 15 2014, and still playing with the features.

IE 11 looks good too.

Net 3.5 you will have to unstall manually (DISM command) if you need it since Windows updates don't work or are not available. Other product updates (Office, Windows defender etc) work normally.

I'm continuing to experiment with it -- pity the leak though was the 32 bit version -- C'mon somebody find a REAL 64 bit leak --sure it will happen.

This stuff reminds me of what we used to do with the pre-release version of W7.

Cheers
jimbo

Quickely put: they redo the desktop on the modern-style Start Screen. Now you can snap two apps 50/50 instead of 25/75. + smaller tiles (refrain from calling them "icons" please).
A huge progress for desktop PC users. Maybe in 3 years we will see resizeable windows? And a complete control panel called PC setting. The OS of the future, most definetely -LOL-.

Well with a little patience you will have the same features on the modern-style UI as on Windows 3.1. You must be glad indeed.

Hi there
seems to be true in this case -- The windows 8 UI seems to be actually 16 / 17 Years old ALREADY. Now it's clear why some people call it "The Kiddies UI".

You should be where I am making do with a power failure. Fortunately, I can connect through my mobile and could prepare a rather nice Singapore Chilli Prawn (or so my wife said - I found it a tad sweet) with our camping gear. Sometimes the old fashioned stuff works fine when all the mod cons fail.

I think you did... It's called the "new" PC, the tablet PC, the touch PC, basically the PC that doesn't need an antiquated rodent to work with it. You know, that gimmicky thing from 25 some years ago?

My systems are not antiquated. They are top notch desktops and laptops from a year ago. When I want touch, I use my Android tablet. That does everything I want on a tablet.
