I think Windows 8 will change something...

I don't know what it will change, but I truly think something different will happen when Windows 8 comes closer into the future. Personally I would like to see some cloud computing on Windows 8, or maybe it will be something like Project Natal, were you interact with your computer in a more personal way..(If that makes sense)

I am just throwing ideas out there.. Who knows what will change

If you look at any product (not only computers), evolution is usually coming at a crawl. For one, because the developers don't know any better and then also because the marketing people do not want to shock the customers. Look at the step from XP to Vista which was a real evolution (forget the initial OEM problems) - most people did not want to take that step. Now that they tuned windows7 back to the old ways in some areas (if not the old mess), people are flocking in.

    Isn't that a bit of a paradox?

It would be nice to see, but....

This is why 8 will be not be as 'radically different' as people want it to be.

Somehow I'm expecting to see a radical change in GUI and features, Microsoft to surprise me as positively than back in the 90's when jumping from Win 3.X to NT and 95.

I would not bet on it. They just made a big step backwards from Vista to Win7. Or do you think that chasing the system protection options in Computer properties (in lieu of Restore center) is an intelligent GUI. And that is only one of the examples. And also, the right click context menu > personalize of the Vista Desktop was a lot more logical place for the basic settings than what we see now. The stuff is scattered all over. These are just a couple of examples.
