Windows 8 Developer Preview release

  1. #31

    Hey Guys,

I was not sure whether to post this or not as I don't want to come across as a total idiot (never used any operating systems before the general release) but could some of you more experienced people help me out with a few queries on this.

Firstly will this be a fairly straight forward procedure as in downloading an ISO file?

If so any idea of the size?

Can I put on a usb stick and boot from that for the install?

Will the installation be fairly straight forward like installing regular OS?

And finally what can I expect from the version that we get? Will it be fairly usable, sorry I sound like such a novice, it's not a field of expertise for me.

    Thanks

    Paul.

It should be an ISO around 3-4GB and it be easier to install than win7, but you will need to wait a few more hours to get real answers

Paul, stick around here and you will become seasoned in the prerelease software very quickly.

You'll need at least a 4GB drive, most likely.

Thanks for the reply Zero, I usually check in here each day, I had a quick look the other day at downloading the latest build version but the only links that looked to be working were torrent ones and I have never used torrent before so I decided not to hurt my brain lol.

I have a 4gb stick laying around so hopefully that will be big enough to do the job.

Will check back in the morning to see how people are getting on and get the ball rolling after work if things are looking good

Probably the size will be similar to previous leaks. So you will need at least a 4GB drive.

Use diskpart to create an active partition, copy the ISO contents to the new formated partition and setup the BIOS to boot from USB.

Considering the stability of the leaked builds I would say it's gonna be pretty stable... but let's wait to see.

    Just a few hours
