My laptop (ACER Aspire Ethos AS8951G) has an i7 Sandy Bridge quad-core, 8 GB RAM, Geforce graphics and an 18.4" full-HD screen @1920x1080. It runs Win 8 'Ultimate' (Pro + WMC) and I can get 6+ hours out of the battery. It is almost never used in a mobile situation as it is simply too big and heavy. But I certainly wouldn't want anything smaller or less powerful for serious computing. A Surface Pro would be a nice accessory, but is not on my 'must have' list. An 18" Surface Pro with a powerful i7 Ivy Bridge, 16-32 GB RAM, top-end Nvidia graphics and ALL the peripheral connectivity that this AS8951 has, would indeed be heading towards the 'must have' list, tho, and a Surface RT seems like it would be a reasonable tablet for non-serious mobile use. I've had a bit of a play with the Surface RT and, for what it is, quite liked it. Its pricing in Australia is a sick joke, though, IMO, or I'd probably have purchased one.
