Steve Ballmer 'not the right leader' for Microsoft

It might explain a few things:

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer is not the right leader for the world's largest software company but holds his grip on it by systematically forcing out any rising manager who challenges his authority, claims a former senior executive who has written a book about his time at the company.

"For Microsoft to really get back in the game seriously, you need a big change in management," said Joachim Kempin, who worked at Microsoft between 1983 and 2002, overseeing the sales of Windows software to computer makers for part of that time. "As much as I respect Steve Ballmer, he may be part of that in the end."

"They need somebody maybe 35-40 years old, a younger person who understands the Facebook generation and this mobile community. They don't need this guy on stage with this fierce, aggressive look, announcing the next version of Windows and thinking he can score with that."

Makes a lot of sense...

Goes the same for tim cook and apple, he's not the right person to lead apple and not steve jobs no more Steve Ballmer is like Bill Gates.

I don't think Steve Ballmer has done a good job as CEO, but seeing as he's now been CEO of Microsoft for about a decade and NOW there are genuine innovations coming from them; this is something we'll have to see...

Well if Ballmer is the wrong guy then why are they getting into the mobile device business along with creating Windows 8, which is designed to work across multiple devices? If they were talking about these things years ago, then why all of a sudden now? I think that it may have been Gates asleep at the wheel. Ballmer is just a glorified manager. He takes orders from Gates and whatever the rest of the board decides collectively.

They all may be late showing up at the mobile game, but watch out when their ball gets rolling. :)

So far as Ballmer protecting his job, there's politics in everything. This guy may be jealous he didn't get to be CEO. He'll make a few bucks off the book and go away.

I agree that under Tim Cook's leadership, the future of Apple is currently uncertain. It's unclear where he might take Apple, or how innovative it may be under his leadership or under the influence of their key players. I see Ballmer as being not too different from Bill Gates. They take concepts that have already been innovated by other companies and dress them up a little differently and call them innovations of their own mostly. That hasn't seemed to change much.

MS has been trying to do this for the past decade (or more).
