Windows chief Steven Sinofsky has just been confirmed to appear at the ninth D: AllThingsDigital conference next week, and the smart odds are that he'll use the high-profile event to give the public its first view of Windows 8, the next version of Microsoft's operating system.

Windows 7 Home Premium x64
In all this, I can't help but wonder on MS business plan. Windows 7 is selling very well, it's likely many corporations will be making the switch, and now they throw 8 into the mix. Surely it will make many wait to be sure they don't miss out on the next big thing. And the wait would likely extend well after the actual release, as people wait to see if it is a winner, or a flop. A Guy

Maybe they are taking a page from the Apple playbook. Always, and I mean always, hype the next product no matter what it's got to really bring to the table. As long as you make people think you've got a winner, perception IS reality.

Other than a few appearance mods Win 8 feels like a clone of Win 7. I have 8 installed on a partition on my C:/ drive...now on my desktop PC I have Win XP Home on VirtualBox in my Vista OS, Windows 7 on a partition and win 8 7955 on another partition lots o' fun!!!
