    I can only see it as a good thing. You could integrate your skype ID with your outlook, and then from there you could call/video call with that person on whatever device is convenient for them.

    Yeah that is true, It wouldnt be too bad within outlook actually, i assume they will just release it as a stand alone client for Mac/Linux if they did go this route.

    I don't think Microsoft bought Skype just to compete with FaceTime. FaceTime has its limits in the Mac ecosystem. Skype is a cross platform solution, and can be marketed as a consumer and enterprise solution in this new world of mobile video calling.
