Which tablet should you choose for your business?

Now that Windows 8 and Windows RT are generally available, a wide range of new tablets, convertibles and other innovative devices from a variety of manufacturers are becoming available. While some people may still be best served by traditional laptop or desktop PCs, many customers will benefit from new Windows 8 tablets or touch-enabled devices like convertibles (all referred to as tablets in this blog for simplicity). In some cases, these tablets will be used as companion devices alongside existing PCs, while in other cases Windows tablets will become the primary computing device. With the broad range of form factors now available, there’s no “one size fits all” device, nor should there be.

neither are being shipped until January because their is a bug that needs to be fixed in the processor

I'm waiting for the Surface Pro to come out before I make a decision. I'm also keen to see what 3rd party companies bring out as well. I will definitely be buying a Windows 8 tablet some time next year

The pricing of the Surface Pro makes me kind of hesitant. The 64GB version is $US899. If I want a keyboard that's another $US120. I'll need Office so there's another couple of hundred. So that's gonna cost me roughly $US1300 for the lot. Battery life isn't great (I've read it will last around 4.5 hours) It's not what you would call light either and I am concerned about the potential heat the Ivy Bridge chip will produce under load.

The specs tho make it more comparable to an ultrabook than a typical tablet so looking at it that way $1300 isn't too bad I guess. Connectivity options are plenty as well. I particularly like the full sized USB 3.0 port available and the sd card slot (4G would have been nice tho)

does it have windows 8 Pro on it? also at amazon it is like $1400- way too much money for my budget for a tablet
you can put exes on windows 8 pro so does that mean it is going to need a AV and antispyware/malware program on it?

In January more tablets with windows 8 pro is coming out. I would like to see how competitive they are all to each other. I really do not want to spend over $800 for a tablet. I already have an IPAD2 and that suits me fine, but I might just look at the new Dell Vostro 2420 laptop running windows 8 Pro, which will cost me less than $700 and I really only need it for the seminars I do, and if i get this I will get the RT version for the tablet which will be much less money

Might be worth waiting for Haswell, suppose to be cooler and take less power.

I bought mine June 2012 so it came with Windows 7, i soon put Windows 8 on it though and now have Windows 8 Pro it works very well and of course Microsoft Security fills the need for antispyware/malware and antivirus the nice thing it is free with Windows 8. I would think the latest models will come with Windows 8

I've heard rumors that Microsoft will eventually release Microsoft Office to the iPad, and there are some leaked documentation on that. If this is true, would there be any point in getting Windows RT tablets? It's like suicide for Microsoft.
