Office 2013 now available on Technet
Hi everone
If you are a TechNet subscriber you can download OFFICE 2013 NOW -- (Real versions not the trials or previews).
I'm running it on a W8 VM machine (X-64 PRO version).
Not sure if I like it better than 2010 -- need to play with it a bit more.
Note however if you have some 3rd party EXCEL addins these might not work -- I have one for downloading OPTION prices from the CBOE (Chicago board of Options Exchange)
CBOE | Chicago Board Options Exchange which fails so you might want to test on a separate machine before replacing Office 2007 / 2010.
Cheers

I have the TN version. It seems good, but not sure I'll purchase yet. I just don't use that many features of Word and Excel anymore. Not even sure I'd use the new features. I haven't investigated them thoroughly though. Too busy. Am running TN Win8 Pro also.

Don't know is your's a Technet version? Personally, I wasn't in a big hurry to get it.

Yes, I got it from TechNet.
You didn't miss anything ...
The good news is that I have not encountered any problems creating or saving documents in Office 2013 and then opening them in Office 2010. Outlook was the only hiccup I have encountered but even that's beahving normally now.

Hi there
Still one problem with outlook 2013 -- You can't uncheck the box Test email settings so if the test fails you can't create an account.
With Outlook 2010 you could disable the checkbox.
Sometimes - especially if you are on a public Wi-Fi system your ISP won't allow you to use their SMTP server for SENDING mail -- Receiving is always OK.
So if you need to re-create your email account --say you re-install (or just INSTALL) the OS or install OFFICE 2013 from scratch you can't CREATE an account if the test email settings fails..
In any case why can't I set up an email account without having to be connected to the internet. I might want to SET up accounts offline --and next time I'm online just use them.
Seems a bit of a blunder here Ms -- I downloaded OFFICE 2013 from TechNet -- didn't upgrade 2010 since I had 2010 x-86 and wanted the X-64 version this time.
So I had to roll back --I need at least to READ email.
Here's the checkbox in outlook 2010 --doesn't appear in Outlook 2013.
!!!cheers

only got my first try at that earlier on, some really nice features with the preview options for tables/graphs before you put them in.
able to insert and edit pdf files to word
a nice touch.
overall some great features in their, wasn't instantly keen on the visual style but then i never have been with office was off putting but it somehow felt very clinical.

To those that hated the initial holy white light of Office 2013, it seems Microsoft heard you devils!
This is the standard white theme...
This is the light grey theme...
And this is the dark grey theme. When you hover over some of the UI elements, the color changes to that Office app's color, in this case blue for Word when you hover over the File tab or other things.

The color themes are absolutely unacceptable in Office 2013. I like dark themes myself and that dark gray is still way to bright white for me.

yeah when staring at a screen for as long as you can with office bright white can get very sore on your eyes.
was what i seen as the only fault with it, this site's light blue border is soft and easy on the eyes so it's a nice comparison in that regard.
the darker grey looks ok though, can you change that to a colour like a soft blue?....look left of this inner page to the border of this very forum for the colour i mean.

I got to use 2013 as part of Office 365 trial and particularly like it because outlook finally works without sync errors on two msn/hotmail accounts.
For years I've had to live with outlook connector fouling up my two msn email connections using ms office 2007 and 2010. When on outlook 2013, zero sync errors.
I now just cannot find good info on whether office 2013 will be a stand alone product. So far, all I can see is it is part of the pay monthly office 365.
