A little news from Mary

This is a little news and has a mention of the below poster UXEvan.... so for a little joy you go!
As soon as Microsoft releases the final bits of a new Windows release to manufacturing â?? and often before â?? many usersâ?? thoughts turn to whatâ??s next.

Windows 7 and its server complement, Windows Server 2008 R2, were released to manufacturing in late July. By late August, Microsoftâ??s Windows client unit already was turning the crank on Windows 8 client and server.

Anders Vindberg, a Microsoft Technical Fellow in Microsoftâ??s Management and Services division â?? a â??Big Brainsâ? interview with whom Iâ??ll be posting soon â?? acknowledged that planning sessions were well underway for Windows 8. And of the 12 working groups created, â??eight or nine revolve around management.â? (Back in April of this year, Microsoft was seeking developers interested in working on some of these management features and enhancements to Distributed File System Replication for Windows 8.)

Stephen Chapman, a tech enthusiast who runs the UX Evangelist site, has been beating the bushes for a few months now for Windows 8 information. He

I think ChromeOS is going to give Windows 8, a real tough time. Firstly because of Google's highly succesful ventures into just about EVERYTHING ONLINE. And secondly because I think Cloud Computing is the future. Where not having an internet connection means not owning a PC.

I definitely believe Chrome will give MS and their future developments little tough times. As i recall, Chrome will be based on cloud computing? That's definitely a turn off for gamers and anyone who does tasks on their computer that don't use the internet. (i.e photo shop and any games\editing really). Cloud computing is good for people who use their computers for email and other online activities only, With a little word processing thrown in there.

As for everyone else, Microsoft will still get great business from all the gamers\editors and people who dominate these forums (correct me if I'm wrong).

EDIT: After further thought, you may be on the right track Zeshena. Microsoft will probably lose their net book industry to Chrome and other cloud-based OS's.
