    UK Win8 launch day report

Currys and PC World struggles to shift Windows 8 devices on launch day- The Inquirer

The UK's biggest computer retailer Currys and PC World is struggling to shift devices running the new software.

Visiting our local store on Oxford Street in London at midday today to see how the new OS was going down with the general public, ...the popular high street chain was yet to sell one device running Windows 8.

... customers who had visited the store so far didn't seem that interested in Microsoft's new OS ...the retailer is expecting sales "to pick up in the run up to Christmas" seems already that the hype created in the build-up to Microsoft's launch has blown over, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth for retailers like Currys and PC World that were expecting "really strong sales of Windows 8 products".

... the public reacts to one new Apple product in a completely different way than to the array of new devices from Microsoft's OEM partners running the firm's latest OS.
The Tottenham Court rd store had a launch event - there were some win8 fanatics like Coke Robot - but they still didn't manage to get rid of very many win8 devices.

That was just day 1- maybe things will improve - could hardly be any worse.

Its pretty clear that no one likes Win 8 on desktop PCs, and why would people rush out to buy a whole new PC just for a new OS?

The UK retail market is also pretty dead nowadays, most people prefer to buy their technical things from electronics etailers instead.

The problem is many fanatics don't buy anything, I have a lot of those fanatic when I have my stores, they make me loose a lot of my time and don't put bread on my table at the time.

Tempted to go and have a look at the offerings. I can see PC World from my office right now, nearly lunch time

Well: You may want to buy a smartphone for it has PC functionalities... but you won't want to buy a PC to get smartphone functions!
