Hi there.

I posted this on W7 so for the benefit of those who don't frequent W7 Forums here it is.

VMWARE PLAYER - is Free version no longer available - Windows 7 Help Forums

However if anyone can find the OFFICIAL links to VMware player (Free) not using file sharing such as filehippo etc. please post.
People looking for a FREE version are hardly likely to click the BUY NOW button.

Seems VMware has found too many people were using the old FREE VMware player rather than buying Workstation.

Hopefully I'm wrong but the site doesn't even mention that VMware player is FREE for home users any more.

(Backdoor method link still up though - but for how long?).

Cheers

Yes, it's still free.

Look at this page: VMware Player Plus: Easiest Way to Run a Virtual Machine | United States

They tell you all about Player Plus, but if you scroll to the bottom, it has a section for the Free Player.

Here is the download page that has the Free Player: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/6_0

And here is the FAQ where they discuss whether Free is still available and where it can be used: VMware Player Plus FAQs: Create and run virtual machines on a Windows or Linux PC | United States

Companies frequently do this with free products, bury them a little. This way people have to see and learn about the paid products and this encourages them to pay for the more advanced products.

Yea, I downloaded it a few weeks ago. Had to really hunt for it. :)

Works great for XP. There is a scratchy sound issue for many. What fixes it for me is to leave dxdiag.exe minimized. Don't know why it works but it does.
