Error creating virtual machine (Client Hyper-V, Win 8 Pro)

I'm using an AlienWare M14 machine. I tried to create a virtual machine locally using Client Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro, but it still doesn't work (took me a lot of time). I added the Hyper-V features in "Turn windows feature on or off", and all of the requirements to run Hyper-V are fulfilled (SLAT, BIOS, 64 bits, ...) (I attach the msinfo32 output in this post). At the last step in creating a virtual machine, it says "... General access denied error... (0x80070005)" (for details, check my attached image). I googled, tried some solutions but still no luck so far.

Thanks for any help.

Actually, the error is general access denied. I have already uploaded a new image. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

An access denied can have many causes. First check to see if you have full read-write access on your drive (H) and if the connection is good.

Search for 0x80070005 and you'll see what I mean, the best link in your case might be this:
Hyper-V virtual machine may not start, and you receive a ??General access denied error? (0x80070005)? error message

Good luck.

    That's basically it.
In my case, I couldn't even create a virtual machine, let alone start an existing one. I already tried the permissions by giving full permission for my account. I even used the built-in admin account, but the error is still the same "general access denied error":cry:

Hi, I have already tried to create a VM on another partition (even on a external hard disk), but the error is still there. I used to check out the link (that you gave me) via Google but that situation is not the same as mine. Can anyone have any other ideas? Thank you.

Sorry to still see this unfixed.
It seems not so many use Hyper-V or it can be that it's a rare issue...

Do you also get access denied on the C: drive?

This would be hard for me to fix since I don't use Hyper-V.
You can still wait for others to answer or look online for some fix.
If no solutions are available, depends how urgent the matter is, you can try other (free) alternatives that work easier like VMware Player or VirtualBox.

Good luck

Good to see a nice Hyper-V answer.

Kari should know it because he's a Hyper-V user, I can even say expert.

File permissions aren't always clear to all users but let's hope this particular error it will get fixed soon.

Cheers!

I'm not trying to get credits here Hopachi, you linked to correct KB article earlier. Kudos where it belongs :).

Hi there

While not a solution to your problem - why don't you try using VMware vplayer --it's FREE and unless you specifically need any features provided by HYPER-V it works very well indeed with mostly ZERO problems. You have to disable HYPER-V first to use VMware vplayer though.

I'm posting this on a W8.1 VM running with VMware from a LINUX OPENSUSE 13.1 Host -- no problems whatsoever. I'm running IE11 quite OK from within the VM.

Cheers

I already installed VmWare. I think that is what I need for the time being. I just can't stand having Hyper-V without being able to use it. That's all. Thanks. I still hope someone will have the solution for this problem.

Luckily the problem has been resolved. I restored the whole windows partition, and now I can create a virtual machine using Hyper-V. It's possible that I messed up with permissions before. Anyway, thanks all for you support :)
