Unfortunately it does not have it. Allthough, you can download the free VMware player and install it there. The xp mode will be included in Windows 8 ultimate version.

Well, it's a kind of stuff "through the breast back into the eye"

Today I decided to play little with virtualization. Result: a surprisingly fast and smooth working Windows XP Mode, with integration features, running on Microsoft Virtual PC on Windows 7 Ultimate virtual machine running on VMWare Player on Windows 8!

It might work, but it isn't the answer the OP asked for.

As far as I know, Windows XP-Mode isn't supported yet in Windows 8 CP.

I experimented a few days ago with Hyper-V 3.0, although I managed to unpack the Windows XP-Mode installer files into a .vhd and create a bootable guest OS, the virtual machine with Windows XP-Mode has 2 major issues:

- first of all, integration components are not compatible with Win 8 CP (I had no network and other issues)
- and the RDP interaction available on Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate to avoid re-activation wasn't supported. So your Windows XP-Mode VM just will be useable for 30 days

Overall: Maybe we will see a modified version of Windows XP-Mode in some SKUs. But overall, I have no clue, where MS intend to march. Just in brief:

- Windows 8 will be available in 4. Q. 2012, the majority of installations will be in 2013 or even later - especially in enterprises, we will see a huge delay
- Windows XP will reach end of support in April 2014

So: Overall we will have 1 1/2 years of life time for Windows XP-Mode ....

I'll add to this post to correct some bad information. Microsoft has No Plans to include an XP Mode in any edition of windows 8. By default, you cannot install and use XP Mode in windows 8 using the download provided by Microsoft.

But If you already have a copy of the XP Mode running on a version of Windows 7, you can copy the XP Mode.vhd file to your Windows 8 machine and then use VMLite ( A visualization software made specifically for XP Mode) to install that .vhd and most things will work. network works fine but integration does not work. This version will be licensed to you just as it was under Windows 7 and you will have more than 30 days of activation - unlimited.
