Windows 8 Hyper-V - Can't disable write-caching

Hey All,

This is probably a pretty nooby question but I can't seem to find any answers online.

I used to use VMware Workstation, but I've since switched to Hyper-V as it's built into Windows 8.

I was setting up a server from scratch (2008 r2) and I added the role of Domain Controller to my server, which all went through with no problems at all.

I decided to check through the warnings given in the event log and I came across the following message:

Active Directory Domain Services could not disable the software-based disk write cache on the following hard disk. Hard disk: %1 Data might be lost during system failures.

(ID: 1539)

I've tried to manually disable write-caching, but I just get the following message:

This device does not allow its write cache setting to be modified

Does anybody know how to disable the write caching? I can't seem to find any documentation on this and I'm not sure if this is just standard behaviour of Hyper-V?

Cheers all,

Matt
