Hi there. I created a virtual drive on my windows 8 system recently. It's got some important files in it. The vhd file still exists, but after reboot the drive was gone. Now some forum for windows 7 says to click on disk management and attach vhd. But 'attach vhd' is grayed out, so nothing happens. What is the solution? Thanks in advance.

Figured it out. Had to use diskpart command with 'select vdisk', and then attach vdisk. My files were all there.

The Attach option in Disk Management might be greyed out if you do not have a partition selected. When you start Disk Management, it might look like one partition is highlighted, but select one anyway.

Glad you got it worked out...
