I would like to run xp pro sp3 in virtual.

I was having a look at the tutorial but found that virtual platform greyed out.

Does this mean I can't run it or is there maybe settings I could change.

CPU intel i3 3220
Motherboard asus P8H61-MX USB3
Memory 8gb ddr3

The so called VT-x or virtualization technology should be enabled in the BIOS first.

Your CPU is capable.

That will increase performance in the VM but is not really necessary for running XP or any 32bit OSes.

You will need VT if you want to run 64bit OSes in VMs.

This applies to both VirtualBox and VMWare Player.

Hope this helps.
