Hello,

I've been trying all day to install Windows 8 Build 7955 in Virtualbox, but it doesnt not seem to work. At first, I tried VMWare, but I recently saw that it doesn't support for Windows 8 yet. Then I was told Virtualbox works, and well, for me, it didn't. I've checked Youtube, and other sites.

What I seem to not see in my screen is under the "Screen" section in settings, I do not have the Acceleration tab, but I do have Motherboard and Processor tabs. I played around with those settings from various sites, but I seem to be missing the Acceleration tab.

Any help in to getting to install?

Is there any good build I can install incase I may have to have the acceleration tab for build 7955? Any other build that wont need this I wont mind. I just want to try out Windows 8.

I could not get it run on Virtual Box either despite using settings that worked for someone else. It was worth a try but I am not going to spend hours trying to get it to work when (from what I have seen and read) it's hardly ready for prime time. Maybe when the official beta arrives I'll give it a whirl.

I got it to work using these settings from z3r010, http://www.eightforums.com/windows-8-news/1758-windows-8-7955-leaked-4.html#post11895

Unfortunately, those settings didn't work for me. :(

Didn't work for me, either. Any other solutions or should I just go with build 7850?

Dual boot

A friend told me dual-booting with Windows 8 and Windows 7 causes problems with the Windows Boot Manager and some other things he said that apparently just leads to say that he doesnt recommend dualbooting both. Is this true?

No, it's not... Although I recommend you to backup your data and prepare a clean partition.

I used VirtualBox and got the 8 build to install perfectly. Doesn't look all that different to me, but that's what building off of the 7 platform will do

I have to agree. I don't see a whole lot different from Windows 7 Ultimate. I am sure there a quite a few differences, but not noticeable to me.
