Getting two server to communicate on HyperV with one Nic

Hello everyone, first time poster but I lurked from time to time and posted sometimes on the Win7 forum, I've been playing around with Win8 HyperV and I had a question:

I have two servers installed via HyperV, one is Server 2008 R2 and the other is Server 2012. I want to get them to communicate with eachother but I only have 1 nic onboard. I've setup an external virtual switch and have internet connection with my host OS and both servers (same connection) but I don't know what steps I need to take next to get them to talk to eachother and share resources. I also plan on making a few more VM's (Ubuntu/Fedora) and want to make them to talk to eachother as well (which will be a later question :geek:)

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi Mhansen, welcome to the Eight Forums.

Using virtual switches on Hyper-V can be tricky. Networking between your two virtual machines is done exactly as if they were two physical computers. If they both use the same external virtual switch and belong to same subnet, they should be able to connect.

This tutorial might give you some hints on working with virtual switches: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/19359-hyper-v-virtual-switch-manager.html
