Solved How To Get NVIDIA GPU In Hyper-V

Hello Experts, I have recently Installed Windows 8 On my Desktop I want to know That Does Microsoft Hyper-V supports Graphics Card that I have installed in my PCI-E port.

I have A EVGA GT 640 2GB GDDR3 installed so will The OS I will install in Hyper-V Also Support That GPU?

I want to Use it to Test The Ubuntu 12.10 And Windows XP Professional And some other programs which will need a
good GPU Acceleration.

I tried Hyper-V on the Enterprise RTM. It sucked.

Use Virtual-Box instead, it is far superior.

And USB works (it won't in H-V, at least, it didn't in the RTM).

Haven't yet tried it in the retail version.

But Virtual Box And Vmware Both have Very Crappy Graphics Performance So Is there Any other Virtualization Software better that Hyper-V Which Will Support PCI-E Graphics Card And will Work Flawlessly On Windows 8 Pro??

Cheapset solution to use pci-e: dual boot and install Ubuntu.
But I agree with your VM choice because you can test better that way.

VMware Player will be the best desktop solution for a simple desktop setup.
They made graphics acceleration available on the latest Ubuntu. VBox already had some graphics acceleration on Ubuntu.
These are your best choices unless you got 2 graphics cards an an advanced processor:

To use the native pci-e in a VM, your processor will not only need hardware virtualisation (VT-x) but also the extended hardware virtualisation (VT-d) AND you usually need 2 graphics cards.

Then you'll need some advanced bare metal hypervisor that can give one pci-e to the VM.
I'm no expert here but VMware ESXI or XEN and even Hyper-V (not sure) are examples and you'll need PCI Passthrough:

For software virtualisation that supports pci passthrough (VT-d required) you'll need to use Parallells Workstation Extreme or latest VirtualBox - 4.1 or up also by using PCI Passthrough support.

Native graphics in a VM is harder than you think and requires more advanced hardware, so you might consider the simple graphics acceleration of VMware Player or VirtualBox first, or use a dualboot.

Since your i3 processor (in specs: ARK | Intel® Core) doesn't have VT-d, you'll have to go with Vmware Player / VirtualBox by using the provided graphics acceleration or dualboot with Ubuntu to use the native pci-e.

Yes. It's called Professional. Has all features + you can get the Media Center feature (you need to buy key) as extra.

You already have PRO. Compare it with Win7 Ultimate but the names and features have changed a bit.
