I jut reboot my PC from an update and I lost completely my setting of my hyper-v virtual network. This is too much, I can't trust this beta OS anymore .

Well, they are already sending out these giant updates - kind of like service packs.

You are not the only one who has had problems with updates.

Maybe they should have completed it before release.

They were rushing to get it out by the holiday season, I expect.

Ok.. Thing is though, this is pretty common with Virtual Machine software. Every time I've updated VMware I've lost my virtual network settings as well.

Yes on some portions it really looks like beta.

Over half a gig already. That is big in such a short time.

They rushed it out. It wasn't ready.

I see why - they wanted to catch the Xmas buyers. Couldn't wait another 12 mths.

Well, the Virtual Switch are still there in hyper-v Virtual Switch Manager and work fines , it's in the host network adapter setting , you don't see them , this is a bug, probably I have to remove them from the Virtual Manager and re create them again. This is obviously something rush bad and not really try in a lab.
Look you see my bluetooth, my 3 physicals nics and no virtual one

That's misleading. The reason it's been so big is that they have released cumulative updates, which means the new update includes all the previous ones. So if you just count the size, you're counting many updates several times.

Also, the update sizes include multiple languages, which again means the size is 6-10x larger because updates are being counted multiple times.

There is, however, one large update.. and it doesn't have any bug fixes whatsoever. The problem was that a certificate they used to sign many of the DLL's was set to expire pre-maturely, so the update is just the same files signed with a new cert.

If you discount the cert update (since there are no code changes), and cancel out all the duplicates, the updates available are quite small, probably about 50MB or so.

That is just selection of what I have had so far - it is still offering another 77mb.

I don't claim to be a maths genius - but I think that is a teeny eeny weeny bit more than 50mb.

Incidentally, all ... since we're talking about the latest updates. You might find that KB2770917 fails to install. When the system is going through restart it will fail at 15%.

To ensure this update installs first stop the Nalperion Licensing Service running in your machine before you apply this update. That particular service is set to automatically start with the system so you won't have to worry about restarting it, your system restart will take care of that.

Isn't Hyper V basically inferior to Virtual Box and VMware anyway?

No, they just serve different purposes.

Yes. There's no need to compare the two for same usage.
VirtualBox is level 2 hypervisor and Hyper-V is level 1. They work a bit different.

The first is good for single pc users on desktops and the second is good for networks and servers.

Cute. This is what I'm referring to. A forum message on the MSDN web site mentioned that stopping this service prior to manually installing that update would allow it to complete its update before the restart. In my case that worked.

I have 0 update failure until now. But take note that my PC is clean, well until yesterday when I install Classic Start menu, I will see if it will change. By clean I mean that I use Defender, no third AV and no apps to tune PC and similar crap
