Solved Microsoft Account password problem

I created a password for an MS account more than a year ago. Have not needed to use it until today. Installing an app. Can't remember it. Is there anyway to reset or recover a MS PW? How can I fix this, short of a brand new re-install?

You can use step 5 in OPTION TWO of the tutorial below to reset your Microsoft account password online at Microsoft. It'll then sync to your PC while it's online to change the password.

There is an option to recover the password - not actually followed up on this but hopefully will be possible

Tried that and kept getting this;

'"Try entering your Microsoft account again. We don't recognize this one."

I entered the email address that I used when I first got the account and then the email I have now. Above error on both. I don't know the account number.

Are you sure that you didn't close the Microsoft account?

I am not sure. I don;t think I have closed it.

If it's not recognizing the email address, then it's usually because it was closed or possibly not entered correctly.

I guess I never had an account because when I registered for an account it went in flawlessly
