Solved Windows Live Password Reset Won't Work In Advanced Options

I have a PC that had some type of Facebook bug and they ran Malwarebytes which somehow made this PC unable to boot.

Safe mode doesn't work.

I tried system restore from the 8.1 recovery startup and the password was incorrect.

We went through Windows live and reset the password. Problem is, I don't think the PC is able to connect to the internet to even receive that password change and register it. What can I do when you are completely locked out of any system restore options because of a lost password?

There is a recovery partition but using any option to recover or reset or refresh or even run command prompt are protected by a password. We successfully reset the password via Windows Live but its not registering. Its not a local account.

I actually meant something like Macrium Reflect, but I gues the answer is no then. I have had a Microsoft account since I installed 8 when I bought my computer and turned off signing in so I can't remember the start screen really, but in Windows 10 you can choose at boot which account(local or MS) to boot to by clicking an arrow or something, does 8 have that too? It asks for user name on one and Email address on the other(I used same password for both).

Thanks Cliff, that did the trick. I had to disable secure boot and enable legacy support to boot from CD. Then that password program did it. Trying system restore now!

Thanks. I didn't think those password changers would work on an 8.1 machine that wasn't local, apparently Im wrong.

I'm glad it worked. I like those old threads, where everything has been tried and the answer is found, or atleast the possibilities are there to try also.:thumb:
