Administrator question re renaming another user

    Administrator questions

I've had Windows8 for a few weeks now but it is still causing me frequent grief. Can anybody advise me please:

I have administrator rights and I have created the second user for my partner. The system has created a default name of

I want to rename it Frances

I get a message saying I need to provide administrator permission

    I hit the continue button

And I get the action cannot be completed because the file or folder is open

I have done this from a restart so nothing is open and the only action I have taken is to open Windows Explorer to see the folder structure and select the name I want to rename so there nothing open.

Any idea how I can rename the user

Sound like you are going to renaming the user folder name under C:\Users.

You cannot rename the user folder name if you are sign in as the user, and renaming it will cause the user account to stop working.
To rename it follow this tutorial.

Renaming at this point may not work. Best to start a brand new account with the name you really want. I tried the renaming, the account name did not change, only the "faceplate" changed.
