Hello, I need your help on administrative account.

Well, I bought a new Laptop. It came with Windows 8 activated. I created an account named 'Waleed'. It is the only account and it is an administrator account but still I am facing few problems in using Windows 8. Firstly, I couldn't save anything in my 2 other partitions I made. It gave me some permission errors but I solved it through changing drive security options.

But I still don't think I have all administrative power from this account. I can save in my "E" and "D" drive because of some security settings I changed myself but still I can't save in "C" drive.

This is Administrator account thing, net user administrator /active:eek:n and this will give me an administrator account but then how do I change name of that account to something else? Is it full admin account that I want?

Thank You!

Hello Waleed, and welcome to Eight Forums.

By default, Windows will not let you save anything directly into a system folder from an external source for security purposes. You would have to save it into one of your user folders (ex: desktop), then you will be able to move or copy it into a system folder.

Well, this feature of windows 8 is really rubbish imo.

I cannot install any software, I couldn't install Avast antivirus. I had to go to command prompt, Enable Administrative account, then go to Admin account and install it from that account. Can I change name of administrative account to my name? Can I use administrator account on daily bases like normal account.

I am an IT professional so I can deal with computer issues but this Administrative account in windows 8 is really rubbish.... -_- Please

Something is wrong with your account then.

When you are signed in to an administrator account, then you should have no issues with doing this. You'll usually only be prompted by UAC first for approval if you try to do anything that requires elevated rights (ex: "Run as administrator).

As a test, create a new administrator account to see if it behaves the same while signed in to it.

There are a few issues when signed in to the built-in elevated "Administrator" account. First, modern apps will not work. Second, everything that runs while signed in to this account will also have the same unrestricted access to the whole PC. It's nice to have the elevated rights in this account, but it can be a double edge sword. That's why it's usually recommended to not use as an everyday account, but only as needed.
