Solved How do I transfer main user to Elevated Admin user?

I have been using an unelevated admin user account since installing win 8.1 pro and I've been having problems constantly (UAC nagging me, access denied when trying to kill processes and so on) and I decided I want to use the elevated admin account as my main. I understand security risks and convenience is more important to me as I don't have any sensitive information on my laptop. I was wondering if I can merge the user account I used until now, which has all my app settings, with the elevated admin user account and use that one from now on.

Nope.

It is the same a switching from any other account to a different one except that as you'll not be able to use the Store apps using the built in Administrator account you don't even get to use the OneDrive synching of settings.

Sorry about that.

What happens if I copy paste and overwrite my standard user over the administrator one? Also what folder contains windows settings such as tile arrangement in metro menu and settings for firefox?

You are opening yourself up to no end of problems I think. You can copy your documents, sure. Most of your user configuration data is stored in %appdata% (C:\Users\You\Appdata). You really can't copy it - even a cursory look shows lots of .ini files with hard coded paths.

I think you would be better off starting afresh.

Tile arrangement is irrelevant as the built in Administrator account can't sync such things. I don't use Firefox but IE and chrome both sync settings fine so I expect Firefox would too once you sign-in.

Thank you for the advice. Is there any way I can elevate my regular account? Does taking ownership of C drive get rid of administrator prompts? The thing I'm most interested about is being able to kill processes without getting access denied and copy pasting in C drive without being asked for permission.

Note that if you are running programs under built in Administrator profile you can't disable the profile or they stop working.

It doesn't bother me particularly but if you were really security obsessed it might...

Yeah I guessed as much, I will leave it on for when I can't do something on my current user account.
