I see the write-up on how to make a password reset disk on a USB flash memory stick. But is there a way to make a password reset disk on a CD?

WHAT I DID:
1. Inserted a blank CD in the optical drive.
2. Opened control panel and clicked "User Accounts". But in the left panel there is no option "Create a password reset disk". All I see are:
  • Control Panel Home
  • Manage your credentials
  • Manage your file encryption certificates
  • Configure advanced user profile properties
  • Change my environment variables.

Do I HAVE TO insert a USB stick to see the password reset option? (I don't have a spare USB stick to test with)

Running Win 8.0 on a Dell Studio 1537 laptop.

Found the answer.

"Important: Before you proceed, make sure have some kind of portable media to create a password reset disk on. This means that you will need a flash drive or a floppy disk drive and blank floppy disk.
You will not be able to create a Windows 7 password reset disk on a CD, DVD, or external hard drive."

How To Create a Windows 7 Password Reset Disk [Easy]

It's so unbelievable that Microsoft calls it a password reset disk but does not support creating it on a CD. So gotta buy an 8GB USB flash stick for about $5 to save 2 KB of data, instead of saving to a 15 cent CD.

Oh well :(
