Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

I wish I didn't take the 8.1 update as things were just fine before! :(

That being said, I've lost a lot of functions, one being the subject being discussed here. I have tried the tutorial numerous times, as Admin., and even changing my user to a Standard; in both cases, it keeps giving me an error Code 0x80004005 (We're sorry, but something went wrong, your MS account cannot be changed to a local account.)

I will mention that I cannot access the Store, which seems to be tied into this problem (?).

I've been reading and searching for a fix (error code) with no luck.

Also, I can *see* my Local account name, and if I try setting up a New one, it tells me that User is already set up. So, it's still there, but I can't get to it.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

Hello spddemun,

If you have not already, see if you may be able to add a new local account with a different user name that what you have already tried using to see how that works.

If successful, you could delete the Microsoft account while signed in to your new local administrator account.

Hope this helps. :)

[Sorry for posting in the wrong topic.]

I'll try that, but what will happen to my other User that is still there?

WHY did this happen, any idea? Not that you're a MS fortune teller!

No worries, I'll break out my crystal ball and do my best. :p

You're other old account will still be there until you delete it, but I would recommend to copy anything (ex: shortcuts, music, documents, etc...) that you wanted from it to the new account before deleting it.

Since you just upgraded to 8.1, it's most likely caused by something going wrong during the upgrade.

Once you delete the old account, you will hopefully be able to switch your new local administrator account to a Microsoft account using the same address if you like.
