Windows 8.1 log on is very annoying. How do I stop it? I have the box for use password unchecked, but it still comes up every time I restart the computer.I am the only user but I do have my 2 computers linked by homegroup. I don't want to lose that,it took too many tries to get it up and running.

Thank you, but I have already done that and it keeps coming back. The use password box is unchecked.

Did you select your user account before unchecking the use password box?

Maybe you could just make an automatic login for you system.

<Win>-R
netplwiz

and here, uncheck 'Users must enter a username and ...' click 'Apply'.

Then you can set your login Username and Password for your system.

From then on, your PC will start up and automatically logon for you.

I always do this for my Desktop PC.

Log on

I finally got it fixed. Went back through all the links and then decided to recheck "use a password" and when I did the option to uncheck it came up, and I put in my current password and unchecked it again and now it works fine. Thanks to all who helped me.
