Hi All!
I'm a Novice user, despite owning PCs since 1999. I only use my computer for the basics, (e.g. browsing, research, emails, games, forum discussions), but I CAN follow instructions for "how-to" repairs, updates, etc. I'm using the despicable Windows 8, (unfortunately), and I'm the owner, "Administrator", and ONLY USER of my Lenovo G585 laptop. I found out that owning and being the ONLY USER and being "administrator" means NOTHING to the paranoid fools at Micro$oft, as I can't access "Document", "Program Data" & I'm sure lots of other files on my computer, even though I'M the one who caused these "inaccessible" files to be made!! I tried for over 1 hour & 40 minutes a few days ago to change the "sharing" settings. but was told by a message box that I'm not "allowed" to even TRY to change the "sharing" settings!!! Why would Micro$oft construct an OS that even its OWNERS/Administrators and ONLY USER can't adjust their own settings for privacy & sharing???? Will someone PLEASE list the steps I need to take to make the necessary adjustments so I can get to my own files. I gratefully appreciate any & all suggestions!! DogPal

Hi All!
I gratefully appreciate any & all suggestions!! DogPal

I would do a refresh or restore to factory settings & start fresh.

Once refreshed or restored, post here for advice as what to do next before doing a bunch of things to mess the computer up again.

Thanks for the reply, David!
If you mean "System Restore", I already tried that, and I still can't access everything I want. If you mean another restore move, will you please tell me why I should do it...what will it accomplish, and of course...how do I do it without messing anything up!!
I don't want to become a "swine"...ha ha ha!!!:roflmao: (P.S. GREAT picture & quote!!)
Thanks a bunch,
DogPal
