Hello forum. I am an administrator with 3 limited users on a windows 8 machine. I have installed a game on my account that I want to let one of my users play. I have tried everything I have read about giving permissions, admin right etc, but it still asks for my password everytime he opens the game? I'm at a loss...thank you for your time

Hello Scott,

You might see if creating an elevated shortcut of the game that standard users can use to run the game elevated without getting an UAC prompt for your password may help.

Since this is for a game and not a normal program, there's no guarantee that this will work though.
Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Scott,

That tutorial is able to be done in Windows 8 Enterprise. At what step did it tell you that?

When trying to open the local users and groups manager. I followed the instructions back to the beginning and tried to start from elevated program shortcut, to built in admin account, to local users and group manager.

Sorry brink, I did not read far enough. When I fail option 2 in opening the local users and groups manager, I quit reading. I am using option #3 and making progress. Hopefully it all works and I can mark this thread as read. Thank you again for you help

Windows 8 Enterprise has "Local Users and Groups" (lusrmgr.msc) included in it.

Where you able to use any of the other options to enable the built-in Administrator account to do the steps of the tutorial in?

Hmm. Are you sure that you don't have Windows 8 installed instead?

Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the System icon to see what it show as your "Windows edition" at the top.

Yep, you only have the "Windows 8" edition installed.

This would be why you do not have "Local Users and Groups". It's only available in the Pro and Enterprise editions.

You could also enable the built-in Administrator using OPTION TWO with an elevated command prompt (right click -> Run as administrator) instead below though.
