Power-On Logs In Previous User - No Choice/UID Screen

I have 2 users - admin & non-admin. When I power on the laptop, it immediately brings me into the workspace of the last user on the machine. I never get the 'Lock' screen nor the screen which shows both users' icons. I cannot understand: XPPro used to present me with icons for all users, for me to choose. Is that no longer possible?

    Hello Bill,

Has Jack posted above, Windows will have the last user that logged out displayed on the sign in screen by default. If that user account doesn't have a password, then Windows will sign in to that account by default. Only when that user account has a password will it stay on the sign in screen to let you click on the back arrow to select another user to sign in.
If you like, you could also use the tutorial below to "always show all users" at sign in. Be sure to read the blue NOTE box at the top of the tutorial to see if the side effects are acceptable first though.
    Hope this helps,

If you enable the "Do not Display Last User Name" setting (as in Option 2 of this tutorial Sign in with User Name and Password in Windows 8) then what happens if you haven't set a password?

I have that option changed from the default but I have passwords set; I'm not sure how it would behave in the scenario of no password?
