Solved deleting password

Two weeks ago I purchased a HP Pavilion laptop running pre-loaded Windows 8 64 bit for personal use around the home. As a password was not necessary and I followed internet advice and used netplwiz to remove it. After a number of unsuccessful attempts I realised that I had, in my rush to get going in fact created an administrator account, which cannot have it's password deleted. Following windows help screen advice I created a second account and transferred the administrator role to the new account. Having followed the netplwiz procedure carefully a number of times on the newly designated local account I am still stuck with the password. When I first reboot after each attempt it lets me directly into the account but then subsequently after sleep shutdown it comes up locked. What am I doing wrong?
Advice Please

Sorry, hawkj, but you may not remove the password in Windows 8.
Welcome to Eight Forums, though. :)

Thanks for the reply I suspected as much, even though there are many claims that netplwiz would fix it. As I have a serious sight defect which makes logging on often hit and miss Windows 8 is clearly not for me and I would probably be better served returning to Windows 7.

Maybe set a pin, or picture password if it helps, a Pin will be a simple 4-digit code. I hope you find what works for you. :)

That is a very good idea, as security in my situation is not an issue I could set up a very simple PIN.

Thanks again
