How to Add "Clear Clipboard" to the Context Menu in Windows
The clipboard is a temporary storage area used by Vista and Windows 7. Information (such as text, files, graphics, sound, or video) can be copied to the clipboard from one program or location and pasted elsewhere. The clipboard can only hold one piece of information at a time. Whenever something is copied to the clipboard, it replaces whatever was there before automatically.
This tutorial will show you how to add Clear Clipboard to the context menu of all files, folders, drives, and Windows Explorer for all users in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to do the steps in this tutorial to add or remove "Clear Clipboard".
This can be handy if you just want to clear the clipboard without having to copy something else to do so. This way you do not have potential sensitive information just sitting in the clipboard.
When you click on Clear Clipboard in the context menu, a command prompt window will open and close quickly to indicate that it's working to clear the contents of the clipboard.
EXAMPLE: "Clear Clipboard" Added to Context Menu
1. To Add "Clear Clipboard" to Context Menu
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 3
2. To Remove "Clear Clipboard" from Context Menu
NOTE: This is the default setting.
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 3 below.
3. Save the .reg file to the Desktop.
4. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.
5. Click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC-Windows 7/8) or Continue (UAC-Vista), Yes, and OK when prompted.
6. When finished, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
