Tile on Start for Designer Media Windows Help Forums

How to Create Designer Media Windows Help Forums Tiles on Start Screen

information   Information
Here is a way to make Designer Media’s Windows help forums page(s) live tiles to include and make use of the forums’ live feed. They will randomly scroll with the latest post titles. These are constructed via the Modern IE version only. A “non-live” regular tile can be constructed using desktop IE.

Note   Note
Live tiles are automatically created bookmarking any forum site page. In the above example the left and middle live tiles shown are bookmarks of my Eight and Ten Forums Subscriptions pages respectively and the right is 8/10 AllCut, which all open automatically to their respective page.

AllCut is presented by JDobbsy1987 here: Live Posts/View Overview

Note   Note
The live tile will be placed at the end of your Start Screen. Place it wherever you desire. Use Brink’s tutorial to learn how: Start Screen Apps - Organize into Groups

You may resize the tile to show more data. Wide size and live is default. You may unpin, resize, and/or turn the live tile off or on at any time by right clicking or finger-hold the tile or keyboard navigate to it to focus on it and tap the menu key to obtain a context menu.

A live tile can be made for any site that uses live feeds

Option Two

Make Desktop IE "nonlive" regular tile

1. Open Desktop IE and navigate to the forum page you desire to use. Left click or press the Tools Gear icon button at the upper right of the page.

3. Go to your Apps Screen and look for the Link. It will be under the letter that the forum's name starts with. For example “V” for "VistaForums”, "T" for "TenForums", etc. The difference is what it opens to. There can only be one listed in the Apps page per browser version at a time. Any new one created will take place of the old one. Take note of the difference if you have two. The top one is the Modern and the bottom one is Desktop.

4. Right click or hold on the Desktop IE version link and choose “Pin to Start”. It will be placed last on your Start Screen to be moved where desired.

Note   Note
The tile will be placed at the end of your Start Screen. Place it wherever you desire. Use Brink’s tutorial to learn how: Start Screen Apps - Organize into Groups

You may unpin, pin to Taskbar, open file location, and/or resize the tile at any time by right clicking or finger-hold the tile or keyboard navigate to it to focus on it and tap the menu key to obtain a context menu. There are only two sizes. Medium size is default.
