How to Turn On or Off Automatic App Updates in Windows Phone 8.1
Information
The people who create apps and games for Windows Phone are constantly making tweaks and improvements, fixing bugs, or adding new features. When a newer version of an app you've downloaded becomes available, the update will be downloaded and installed automatically by default.
By default, app updates will only be installed over Wi-Fi. If you're not on Wi-Fi when an update becomes available, the update will be added to your downloads queue and will download automatically the next time your phone connects to a Wi-Fi network.
If you have an app update in your downloads queue, and it's less than 50 MB, you can choose to download it immediately over your cellular data network.
This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off automatic app updates, and turn on or off to only get updates over Wi-Fi in Windows Phone 8.1.

Note
If automatic app updates is turned on, then while your phone checks for app updates, it'll automatically download and install the updates as soon as possible. If any updates for apps were installed, then you will see a notification banner and a notification in the action center from the Store app letting you know.
If automatic app updates is turned off, then you will need to manually check for and install app updates. If you pinned to Start the Store app, then you will see number on the Store tile (if pinned to Start) indicating how many app updates are available to install. If any app updates are available, then you will also see a notification banner and a notification in the action center from the Store app letting you know.
