How to Turn On or Off Show more apps in Apps view in Windows 8.1 Update

The Start screen can viewed in the Start and Apps view. The Apps view in Windows 8.1 is the new version of the Start Menu -> All Programs that was in Windows 7 and Vista. The Apps screen displays all of your installed Store apps and desktop programs.

The Windows 8.1 Update to be released on April 8th 2014 via Windows Update, adds a setting to show more apps in Apps view.


This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off to show more apps in Apps view for your account in Windows 8.1 Update.

OPTION ONE

To Turn On or Off Show more apps in Apps view in Charms Bar


1. While on your Start screen (Start or Apps view), open the Charms bar, and click/tap on the Settings charm.​
NOTE: If you like, you could also press the :winkey: + I keys to directly open the Settings charm below.​
2. In Settings, click/tap on Tiles, and do step 3 or 4 below for what you would like to do. (see screenshot below)​

3. To Show more apps in Apps view
A) Move the Show more apps in Apps view slider to the right to say Yes, and go to step 5 below. (see screenshot below)​

4. To Not Show more apps in Apps view
NOTE: This is the default setting.​
A) Move the Show more apps in Apps view slider to the left to say No, and go to step 5 below. (see screenshot below)​

5. When finished, you can click/tap on an empty area of your Start screen to close Tiles settings.​

OPTION TWO

To Turn On or Off Show more apps in Apps view using a BAT File



Note   Note
The .bat files below are for the registry key and value below.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Grid

Layout_ShowMoreAPVApps DWORD

0 = Do not show more apps in Apps view
1 = Show more apps in Apps view


1. Do step 2 or 3 below for what you would like to do.​
2. To Not Show more apps in Apps view
NOTE: This is the default setting.​
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the .bat file below, and go to step 4 below.​

3. To Show more apps in Apps view
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the .bat file below, and go to step 4 below.​

4. Save the .bat file to your desktop, and run it.​
5. If prompted, click/tap on Run.​
NOTE: If you like, you can stop getting the Run prompt by unblocking the downloaded .bat file.​
6. You will now notice your screen flicker as explorer is restarted to apply the setting.​

There is another update and now added same options for Start screen. You may want to update tutorial
SS language is Turkish but it's understandable :)

Thank you, but I still only see what's under step 5 in OPTION ONE. I don't have that one "Starting screen, the Applied lot more boxes" (loosely translated). :confused:
