How to Save Camera Roll Photos and Videos from Windows Phone 8 to OneDrive

information   Information
SkyDrive is now called OneDrive instead.

OneDrive is Now Available Worldwide: Free Cloud Storage for Microsoft, iOS, and Android Devices | OneDrive Blog

When you sign in with your Microsoft account on your Windows Phone 8, you can turn on the service that lets you automatically save things to the cloud ( OneDrive) so you'll have a backup if something happens to your phone.

This tutorial will show you how to automatically save a copy of photos and videos you take on your Windows Phone 8 camera to OneDrive as a backup and to access from any PC at OneDrive.com.

Note   Note
When you take a photo or record a video with your Windows Phone 8, it is saved in Photos -> camera roll by default.

If set to save to OneDrive, the photos and videos will be saved in your Pictures -> Camera Roll folder in OneDrive.

Here's How:

1. Do step 2 or 3 below for how you would like to open photos + camera settings.

2. On your Windows Phone 8, open the App list, and tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)

4. Under Photos and/or Videos, tap the upload type you want. (see screenshot below)

Note   Note
Don't upload = Turned off to no not save to OneDrive.

Good quality = For lower resolution. Your photos or videos may be uploaded to OneDrive using your cellular data plan. If you connect to a Wi-Fi network, they'll be uploaded over Wi-Fi instead by default.

Best quality = For full resolution. Your photos and videos will only be uploaded to OneDrive when you're connected to a Wi-Fi network. Only photos that are 10 megapixels or smaller will be uploaded. To get larger photos off your phone, you’ll need to use File Explorer (Windows 8), Windows Explorer (Windows 7), or the Windows Phone app on a PC.

5. When finished, you can return back to Start if you like.

That's it,
Shawn
