Proxy Settings Shortcut - Create in Windows 8.1

How to Create a Proxy Server Settings Shortcut in Windows 8.1

information   Information
A proxy server is a computer that functions as an intermediary between a web browser (such as Internet Explorer) and the Internet. A proxy server acts as a security barrier between your internal network and the Internet, keeping others on the Internet from being able to obtain access to information that is located on your internal network. Proxy servers help improve web performance by storing a copy of frequently used webpages. When a browser requests a webpage stored in the proxy server's collection (its cache), it is provided by the proxy server, which is faster than going to the web. Proxy servers also help improve security by filtering out some web content and malicious software, and keeps PCs (your PC) behind the proxy server anonymous.

Proxy settings are used to tell Internet Explorer the network address of an intermediary server (known as a proxy server) that is used between the browser and the Internet on some networks. By default, Internet Explorer automatically detects proxy settings. However, you might need to manually set a proxy with information supplied by your network administrator.

Traditionally you could set up your PC's proxy settings via Internet Explorer. However, Windows 8.1 provides an easier alternative option to set them in PC settings.

This tutorial will show you how to create or download a Proxy server settings shortcut that opens directly to automatic and manual proxy setup in PC settings in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.
