Default Internet Explorer 10 Metro - Use Desktop View

How to "Use Desktop View" from within Internet Explorer 10 Metro Style in Windows 8

    information   Information
This will show you how to be able to quickly switch to a desktop view of the currently opened Internet Explorer 10 metro style window in Windows 8.

    warning   Warning
The Metro Internet Explorer only works if it is the default web browser.

EXAMPLE: Opening Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) Metro Style

    Here's How:

    1. When you have a Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) metro syle window open, either press Windows + Z, right click on a empty area, or swipe up from the bottom of a touch screen or down from the top of a touch screen . (see screenshot below)

    2.
At the bottom right corner click/tap on the wrench button, and click on View on the desktop. (see screenshot below)

    3.
The IE10 metro style window will be suspended, and you will now have a new IE10 window open in desktop view opened to what you currently had opened while in metro style. (see screenshot below)

    Tip   Tip
To Return Back to IE10 Metro View

    1.
Push the pointer into the left border of the screen, the previously opened app (ex: Metro IE10) will show up as a thumbnail. You can click on this thumbnail to toggle between them now.
NOTE: You can also press Windows + ALT + Tab to see the opened apps for this.

    OR

    1. Close the IE10 window on the desktop. (see screenshot below step 3)

    2. Click on the Start button, or press the Windows key to return to the Metro "Start" screen.

    3. Click on the Internet Explorer app icon on the Metro "Start" screen. (see example screenshot at top of tutorial)
NOTE: Since IE10 Metro is suspended at step 3, if your system runs low on memory, Windows 8 may close IE10 Metro instead of leaving it as suspended. If IE10 is still suspended, then it will open right were you left off. If IE10 Metro was closed, then you will have to manually go back to the website as normal instead.

    That's it,
    Shawn

I use that often with Firefox:

Metro and the Desktop combined. Cool stuff, really.

Too bad Windows 8 8102 DP Metro doesn't recognize multiple monitors ... yet ...

Thanks Brink but for some reason when I go back to the metro start screen and click IE it just takes me back to the desktop and starts the normal browser

    Burtie,

Strange. I'm not sure why it's doing that for you. Are you clicking on the same light blue IE icon as in the example screenshot at the top of the tutorial, and not some other pinned IE app icon?

When you push the cursor into the left side of the screen, the previous screen shows up like a small icon. You can toggle with that.

Have a look at my little video:
