    Window 7 HPx64

    Hi Brink,

I'm trying to install Window 8 Pro into VHD I created in window 7 but I got an error message on step 11:

"Window couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the setup log files."

the next button is available but it won't install after i click on it. Any idea on how to solve this?

    thanks in advance.

    64-bit Windows 10

Hello speeds, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Could you post a screenshot showing the full layout of your Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc), and which partition you are trying to install the VHD to?

We'll see if we may be able to spot what the issue may be there.

    Gumnam,

Ok. You should be able to with that edition.

At what step does it give you this error?

Please go ahead and post a screenshot showing the full layout of your Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) window with details on what's what to see if anything may be of issue.
Be sure that you are not trying to install with UEFI if that's an option for you.

Start over from scratch double checking to make sure that you have the correct drive letters at boot. The letters at boot are not always the same as they are in Windows.

Ah, the issue is that your disk is dynamic instead of basic.

You will only be able to do this on a basic disk.
